Solid surface care guide

How to clean, disinfect and maintain your seamless scrub sinks — so they stay hygienic and look flawless for decades of clinical use.

INSTRUCTIONS

Instructions for your scrub sinks

01

Daily cleaning & disinfection

Solid surface is non-porous, so it holds no residue and gives bacteria nowhere to colonise. For routine care between procedures, wipe the surface down with a soft cloth and a standard hospital-grade disinfectant, following your facility’s disinfection protocol.

Because the bowl, splashback and drainage are moulded as one coved form, there are no seams or 90° traps to work around — the whole station cleans in a single pass. Drying the surface afterwards keeps the matte finish even and prevents water marks in hard-water areas.

02

Stain & mark removal

Thanks to its non-porous structure, solid surface does not absorb liquids — most marks stay on the surface and lift away easily. For stubborn residue, iodine or limescale, use a mild abrasive cleaner or a paste of baking soda and water, applied gently with a soft sponge in circular motions, then rinse thoroughly.

Even persistent marks can usually be removed without damaging the material. The surface is renewable, so its original appearance can be restored through cleaning or light refinishing.

03

What to avoid

Solid surface is durable, but a few actions should be avoided to preserve the finish over years of clinical use:

  • Harsh chemicals: Drain cleaners, paint strippers and aggressive solvents can mark the surface if left in prolonged contact — rinse accidental spills promptly with soapy water.
  • Abrasive tools: Steel wool and aggressive scouring pads will dull the matte finish. Use soft cloths and non-abrasive sponges.
  • Excessive heat: Do not place sterilising equipment or heated instruments directly on the surface. Always use heat protection.
04

Long-term maintenance

With routine care the surface retains its appearance for decades — no sealing and no special treatments are required. Over time, light wear can be refreshed by gentle polishing with fine abrasive pads to restore a uniform matte finish.

In hard-water regions, occasional descaling around the bowl and drainage prevents mineral build-up. That is all the maintenance a station needs to keep looking and performing like new.

05

Repairs & professional care

Minor scratches and surface wear can often be repaired on site with mild abrasive pads and water — one of the few surfaces that can be renewed instead of replaced, keeping stations in service and out of landfill.

For deeper damage or larger areas, our team can refinish the surface to its original condition without replacing the whole station. Contact us and we’ll advise on the right approach.

QUICK ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions

Yes. It requires only routine cleaning and disinfection with standard hospital-grade products, and needs no sealing or special treatments.

Yes. Minor scratches can often be removed on site with fine abrasive pads; deeper damage can be professionally refinished.

Absolutely. The non-porous, seamless structure prevents bacteria and moisture from penetrating, and it can be disinfected to clinical protocol.

Unlike welded steel, solid surface has no joints or crevices to trap contamination, is quieter in use, and can be refinished rather than replaced.

NEED A HAND?

Stubborn stain or deeper damage?

For significant repairs or marks that won’t lift, our team in Salaspils can advise on refinishing — or restore the surface for you, without replacing the station.
